To register a trademark in El Salvador, you will need to follow these steps:
- Conduct a trademark search: Before you begin the registration process, it’s important to conduct a search to ensure that your proposed trademark is not already in use by someone else.
- File an application: Once we have determined that your proposed trademark is available, we can file an application with the El Salvadorian Intellectual Property Office (SAPI).
- Provide a specimen of use: To complete your application, you may need to provide a specimen of use of your trademark, such as a label or photograph of your product or service, depending on the type of goods or services of your trademark. Our consultants will contact you if it is required.
- Pay the fee: You will need to pay the fee associated with filing a trademark application. The fee varies depending on the type of application and the number of classes of goods or services.
- Wait for your trademark to be registered: Once your application is approved, your trademark will be registered.
- Renewal: Trademarks in El Salvador have a 10-year term from the date of grant, renewal applications have to be filed before the expiration of the trademark in order to maintain its validity.
